Calling & Video
Video, audio, and instant-voice communication between the resident and their family.
Full-screen HD video calls between a caregiver and the resident. Mute, camera, and speaker controls are available on both ends; caregivers can send typed text visible as on-screen captions during the call.
Clear audio-only calls over Wi-Fi or mobile data — no phone plan required.
Auto-speakerphone, hold duration, and mute button visibility are all configurable.
Works as a normal carrier phone. Incoming and outgoing calls ring directly on the contact grid — no dial pad, no menus.
Caregiver holds a button in the companion app to send a voice message instantly — like a walkie-talkie. The resident hears it through the speaker; their response is relayed back for 30 seconds.
Real-time speech-to-text captions scroll across the screen during calls so hard-of-hearing residents can follow every word without straining.
Can be enabled or disabled. Caption font size is adjustable.
Protect the resident from unwanted calls. Block specific numbers, all unknown callers, or allow only numbers in the device's call history.
Mode: off / block all / block listed numbers. Caregiver manages the blocked list.
Caregivers review a complete history of every call — incoming, outgoing, and missed — with timestamps and durations.
Choose from ringtones tuned to different frequencies — 520 Hz through 1,000 Hz — to match common hearing aid profiles. Screen flash and vibration are optional on incoming calls.
Ringtone frequency, vibration, and flash on ring are each configurable.
Answer an incoming call just by picking up the device — no button needed. The accelerometer detects the motion of lifting a phone toward the ear.
Can be enabled or disabled. Motion threshold is adjustable.
Family members who don't use the full companion app can still call and be called using the lightweight SimpleContact app. A 6-character code pairs them instantly.
SimpleContact calling can be enabled or disabled per device.
Messaging
Asynchronous voice messages and voicemail for times when a live call isn't possible.
Caregivers record and send audio messages at any time. Messages arrive with the sender's name and an optional photo, and can be replayed as many times as the resident likes.
Missed calls go to a private voicemail inbox. Caregivers can record a custom greeting or use the default. New voicemails trigger an optional push notification to all caregivers on the account.
Enable/disable; rings before voicemail (1–6); caregiver notification; custom greeting.
Contacts
A curated contact list managed entirely by the family — no searching, no typing.
The home screen shows up to eight contacts as large photo tiles. One tap calls them. No menus, no typing, no searching — just the people who matter most.
Number of columns (2 or 3), icon size, and header size are configurable.
Caregivers add, edit, reorder, and remove contacts from the companion app without touching the device. Changes appear on the resident's home screen within seconds.
Health & Wellness
Medication reminders, calendar events, and a complete emergency medical record.
Timed reminders appear full-screen over the lock screen so they are never missed. Each shows photos of the pills to take. Residents tap 'Done' or 'Skip'; caregivers see the response in the companion app.
Medication names, dosages, photos, times of day, days of week, and missed-after threshold are all configurable.
Caregivers add upcoming appointments, events, and activities. The resident sees them on a clean calendar view. A morning reminder fires at a configurable time on the day of the event.
Per-event reminder time. Instant FCM notification on creation is optional.
Caregivers store emergency health data — doctor contacts, pharmacy, allergies, medications, insurance cards, and advance directives — accessible on the device at any time.
Daily Life
Routines, quiet hours, and hands-free voice commands for an easier day.
Send step-by-step checklists to the device — morning routines, grocery lists, post-appointment to-dos. Each task is checked off individually and caregivers see progress in real time.
Reusable templates, scheduled send time, and nested sub-tasks are all supported.
Suppress incoming calls and alerts overnight. The contact grid dims and shows a brief 'calls unavailable' note so the resident isn't disturbed during sleep.
Separate weekday and weekend time ranges, each with a configurable start and end time.
The resident says "call [name]" to dial a contact without touching the screen. Processed entirely on-device — no internet required, no wake-word cloud dependency.
Voice commands can be enabled or disabled.
Photos & Media
Family photos delivered instantly and displayed as a slideshow on the charger.
Caregivers upload photos that appear immediately in a gallery on the device. Each photo is marked 'new' until the resident opens it. Pinch-to-zoom is supported.
When placed on its charger, the device becomes a digital photo frame and cycles through family photos automatically.
Static (single photo) or slideshow mode; rotation interval is configurable.
Games & Activities
Cognitively engaging games played together with a caregiver from any distance.
A full game of backgammon played with a caregiver, with optional voice chat. The server validates every move for a fair game.
Real-time Pictionary-style game between resident and caregiver. One draws, one guesses. Round timer, score tracking, and voice chat are built in.
A sequence memory exercise that illuminates blocks in patterns the player must repeat. Difficulty increases gradually — excellent for cognitive engagement.
A card-matching game blending text and images. Trains visual recognition and reaction speed in short, satisfying sessions.
A vocabulary and memory challenge that asks the resident to recall words seen earlier in the session. Gentle mental exercise that feels like a puzzle.
Reconstruct patterns and sequences from visual cues. Progressively harder levels keep the activity stimulating across repeated sessions.
The entire games section can be enabled or disabled with a single toggle. When off, the Games tile does not appear on the home screen at all.
Games are enabled or disabled per device.
Caregiver Tools
Remote screen view, device control, location, and monitoring — all from the companion app.
See exactly what the resident is seeing — live, in real time — from the companion app. Useful for walking them through a task or checking in without a phone call.
Navigate the device remotely as if holding it. Tap, swipe, go home, open settings, or launch the Play Store — all sent from the companion app as injected touch events.
Locate the device on a live map. Trigger an audible alarm and a camera flash strobe remotely to help the resident find their phone — or to confirm their whereabouts.
A complete audit trail of everything that happens on and to the device — calls, settings changes, games played, reminders taken. All caregivers on the account share the same log.
Real-time battery level shown in the companion app. An alert fires when the device drops below a configurable threshold so caregivers can remind the resident to charge.
Alert threshold configurable from 0–100 %. Set to 0 to disable.
When enabled, the device streams error and warning logs to the server. Caregivers or support staff can review them without ever needing physical access to the device.
Off by default. Can be enabled temporarily for troubleshooting.
Invite multiple caregivers with a time-limited link. The owner role grants full control; the member role allows viewing and interaction without access to sensitive settings.
Accessibility
Text scaling, hearing aid integration, lift-to-answer, and more — built in, not bolted on.
The entire interface scales across four presets — Small, Normal, Large, and Extra Large. Contact tiles, typography, and all UI elements grow proportionally.
Text size: small / medium / large / xlarge. Contact icon size and number of columns also configurable.
Optimised audio routing for Bluetooth hearing aids. When one is paired, incoming calls also trigger a full-screen white flash to catch the resident's attention even without audio.
Auto-detect via Bluetooth or force-enable.
The screen turns on automatically when the device is picked up, so the resident never needs to press a power button.
Enable/disable. Screen-on timeout after lifting is configurable.
A full-screen camera magnifier for reading small print — pill bottles, post, labels — without searching for reading glasses.
Control how long the display stays on — from 15 seconds to always-on. Enforced at the device admin level so it cannot be changed accidentally.
15 seconds to always-on. Enforced via device admin.
Device & Security
Kiosk lockdown, silent OTA updates, remote reset, and family team management.
SimpleDial becomes the device's permanent home screen. The resident cannot accidentally exit to Settings, install apps, or change anything. The device does exactly one job.
App updates check automatically once a day and install silently in the background — no prompts, no confusion, no 'update later' dialogs. The device is always current.
Upgrading to new hardware? Clone contacts, settings, calendar, medical info, photos, and routines to a new device in one step. The old device is cleaned up automatically.
Device owners can wipe and factory-reset the device from the companion app, restoring it to a clean state without physical access.
New devices provision themselves by scanning a QR code from the companion app — no manual pairing codes, no typing. The device auto-pairs and configures as a kiosk.
